If you could not determine whether this security complex is suitable for installation on a car, return it to the seller within 14 days from the date of purchase.

The security complex is a complex technical device that involves connection to the car's circuits related to the operation of the engine.

Installation of the security complex should be carried out only by specially trained qualified specialists.

It is forbidden to carry out installation, programming, maintenance, repair and disassembly-assembly of the security complex by persons who are not qualified specialists and who have not been trained and tested on safety.

When programming the parameters of the security complex, the parameters to be set must not contradict the requirements of the vehicle operating instructions.

The user bears full responsibility for damage caused to people, animals and property as a result of using the security complex for other than its intended purpose or with violations of the safety requirements set forth in this manual.

The manufacturer is not responsible for losses and accidents caused by non-compliance with the safety rules and requirements set forth in this manual.

In order to avoid possible misunderstandings, keep the documents attached to the security complex upon sale. Check the completion of the warranty card, including the date of sale and the seal of the seller. In the absence of a date of sale (purchase), the warranty period is calculated from the date of manufacture of the security complex.

The service life of the security complex is 5 years, provided that the product is installed and operated in accordance with the instructions for use, installation and connection diagram.

If your security system has a key fob or wireless tag:

  • do not wear a keychain or tag on the same bunch with car keys;

  • when transferring the car for maintenance or washing, always switch the complex to the service mode. Do not transfer tags and key fobs to third parties to prevent unauthorized access to security functions;

  • do not leave key rings or tags in places accessible to children and animals;

  • do not allow liquids to enter the key fob;

  • if an icon appears on the key fob display warning about the low battery of the key fob, take measures in advance to replace the battery;

  • Store the spare battery in the vehicle in its original packaging.

Safety Precautions When Charging Your Car Battery

Remember that any process of charging a battery is connected with supplying a voltage to the battery and, accordingly, to the car's on-board network of voltage greater than the nominal 12 V. It can damage the car's electronic equipment and equipment additionally installed on your car.

Do not use chargers and start-chargers to charge the battery directly on the car without disconnecting the battery terminals from the on-board network in the following modes:

  • fast charging with increased current (“boost” modes or similar);

  • various START modes designed to start the engine;

  • in 24V battery charging mode.

Do not use starter chargers to start the engine without a connected battery and with connected faulty batteries (short circuits in banks, destruction of plates, etc.).

Do not use defective chargers, 24V chargers and devices not designed to charge batteries, such as welding inverters.

All of the above devices and modes can cause an uncontrolled supply of increased voltage of more than 25 V and up to 60 V to the vehicle's on-board network and lead to failure of the electronic components of the security complex and vehicle equipment.

It is not recommended to use the cigarette light method to charge the battery. Even the described "safe" lighting methods are only safe for the "donor" car. Connecting and disconnecting a fully discharged or defective battery in your vehicle while the engine is running can damage your vehicle's electronics and car alarms due to short circuits or surges that occur when connecting and disconnecting the battery.

If the above devices and modes are used, the responsibility for damage to the electronic equipment lies with the vehicle owner.

Follow safe battery charging technology!

Before charging, the battery terminals must be disconnected from the vehicle's on-board network. After that, you can start the process of charging the battery. After charging, connect the battery to the car's on-board network.

This need is explained by the fact that without measuring instruments you cannot determine the health, condition of the battery and the reason for its discharge (the presence of internal short circuits or breaks). Any connection of the charger to a faulty battery causes a risk of damage to the electronic equipment of the car and the security system by increased voltage.

general description

Purpose

The StarLine i96CAN immobilizer   is designed to protect the car from theft by hidden engine blocking via the standard car bus ( iCAN technology ).

Authorization of the owner is carried out in two ways:

  • via a wireless tag or smartphone with support for the encrypted Bluetooth Smart protocol , protected from electronic hacking;

  • by entering the code using the car's standard buttons .

For an additional level of vehicle protection, use the StarLine R6 or StarLine R4 wireless underhood unit , which provides additional engine blocking and hood lock control.

 A plastic card

 The package includes a plastic card, which contains:

  • Emergency disarm code  - designed to unlock the engine.

  • Service code  - designed to set up and program the parameters of the complex using the StarLine Master application.

It is recommended to carry the owner's plastic card with you or save the emergency disarm code in the phone.

Do not tell anyone the emergency disarm code! Remember that knowing the code, an attacker can disable security features.

Service button

The service button is intended for entering  the emergency disarm code .

Be sure to check with your installer for the location of the service button in your vehicle.

Bluetooth Smart Tag

The tags included in the delivery set are initially in transport mode, in which they are disabled ! Pressing the tag button in this mode will be indicated by green and red flashes of the built-in LED.

Before starting operation, it is necessary to press the tag button several times until the color of the flashes changes to green.

Checking for connectivity

To check whether the tag is connected to the main unit, press the tag button briefly. If there is a connection, 2 flashes of the LED on the label will follow, if there is no connection, 1 flash. The flash color will correspond to the immobilizer operation mode.

LED indication

Battery Discharge

To prevent the engine from blocking due to a discharged tag battery, the immobilizer constantly checks the battery capacity. The owner will be notified about the low battery level  when the ignition is turned on by 6 short beeps .

When a discharge indication appears, replace the battery as soon as possible.

Battery replacement

To replace the battery with a carefully flat metal or plastic object (metal ruler, thin plastic), open the tag case and, observing the polarity (as shown in the photo), install the battery in the compartment. Before closing the body of the tag, install a waterproof gasket between its parts. After installing the battery in the tag, the complex is ready for operation.

Description of work

To travel in a car equipped with an immobilizer, you must have an authorization tag with you. After the label appears in the coverage area of the main unit,  data is automatically exchanged using  the encrypted Bluetooth Smart protocol .  As a tag, you can use a smartphone that  supports the  Bluetooth Smart protocol  and  is registered  in the immobilizer .

Security mode

Authorization of the owner occurs when the ignition is turned on. As an authorization method, use the label and (or) enter the code using the car's standard buttons.

Authorization using the standard car buttons can be used in the following cases:

  • for disarming in the absence of a label. In this case, authorization by entering a code must be configured as an alternative;

  • to protect against theft when the tag is stolen or the tag is lost. In this case, authorization by entering a code must be configured as mandatory.

By default, the label authorization option is set.

Label Authorization

If the label is found, then the immobilizer switches to the "Disarmed" mode. Successful authorization will be confirmed by sound signals. Additionally, authorization confirmation occurs when the driver's door is closed after remote start.

If for some reason the label was not found when the ignition was turned on, the immobilizer will wait for authorization, notifying about this with intermittent sound signals. The authorization wait will stop when the tag is found or the ignition is turned off. In the absence of authorization, the engine will be blocked when trying to start moving.

Authorization by entering a code

When the ignition is turned on, the immobilizer will wait for the owner's authorization code to be entered using the car's standard buttons (for example, multimedia control buttons on the steering wheel, power window control buttons).

To enter an authorization code, do the following:

  • turn on the ignition. There will be signals waiting for the authorization of the owner;

  • enter the code sequence using the standard car buttons. The interval between pressing the buttons should be no more than 3 seconds;

  • after 3 seconds, successful code entry will be confirmed by beeps.

If the Owner Authorization Code is not entered, the engine will be disabled when attempting to move.

After the end of the trip, the immobilizer automatically switches to the "Security" mode when the tag disappears from the visibility zone or 15 seconds after the ignition is turned off, if authorization is used with standard buttons.

Function "Management of standard security system and central lock"

Enabling and disabling the "Management of the standard security system and central lock" function is carried out by the installer.

The immobilizer allows you to control the standard security system and the central lock using a tag. Each time the tag button is pressed, the immobilizer will arm or disarm the standard system and control the central lock.

Anti-robbery mode

Anti-robbery mode is designed to protect the driver from robbery while driving.

Switching the mode on and off is carried out by holding the label button until the LED is indicated. The transition to the "Anti-robbery" mode will be indicated by the red color of the LED on the label.

Depending on the settings, the mode is activated according to one of the algorithms: by time, distance traveled, or overspeed of the engine.

The algorithm of the "Anti-robbery" mode operation by time:

  • the door was opened after successful authorization of the owner for more than 1 second. For some vehicles, the brake pedal must still be depressed at this time (check with the installer);

  • the motion sensor has tripped (or the set value of the number of revolutions has been exceeded);

  • after 15 seconds, the search for a tag or waiting for authorization using standard buttons will begin;

  • if the tag is not detected, the immobilizer will turn on warning sounds;

  • after 20 seconds the engine will be blocked.

Algorithm of operation of the "Anti-robbery" mode by distance:

  • the door was opened after successful authorization of the owner for more than 1 second. For some vehicles, the brake pedal must still be depressed at this time (check with the installer);

  • the motion sensor has tripped (or the set value of the number of revolutions has been exceeded);

  • the immobilizer will turn on warning sounds after passing half of the set distance;

  • after a set distance (default - 1 km), the immobilizer will block the engine.

To cancel the activation of the "Anti-robbery" mode, perform the authorization procedure.

By default, the option to activate the "Anti-robbery" mode by time is set. To change the settings for the operation of the "Anti-theft" mode, contact the installer.

Function "Unlocking the central locking when traveling"

This function is designed to automatically unlock the central locking during a trip under one of the adjustable conditions:

  • when the ignition is turned off;

  • when switching the selector from the “Parking” position for vehicles with automatic transmission;

  • when the engine is stopped;

  • when the ignition is turned off or the selector is switched to the “Parking” position for cars with automatic transmission;

  • when the hand brake is applied.

Enabling, disabling and setting the operation of the function "Unlocking the central locking when traveling" is carried out by the installer.

Function "Locking the central locking when traveling"

This function is designed to automatically lock the central locking during a trip under one of the adjustable conditions:

  • when the ignition is turned on;

  • at the beginning of the movement and pressing the brake pedal;

  • when releasing the hand brake;

  • when switching the selector from the “Parking” position for vehicles with automatic transmission;

  • when the set speed threshold is exceeded.

Enabling, disabling and setting the operation of the function "Locking the central locking while traveling" is carried out by the installer.

Hands free mode

The "Hands Free" mode is intended for automatic control of the central lock and (or) standard alarm system by the presence of a tag.

When the tag is located next to the car, the central locking is automatically unlocked. As soon as the label disappears from the visibility zone, the immobilizer locks the central lock.

 By default, hands-free mode is disabled. To enable the mode, contact the installer.

If a capacitive sensor EC-1 is installed on the car , then the central lock will be unlocked when the sensor is touched in the presence of a mark in the visibility zone. This will avoid disarming and arming every time the owner of the car passes by (for example, in the country). The locking of the central lock will occur when the sensor is touched again or when the label disappears from the visibility zone.

 By default, hands-free mode is disabled. Different methods can be used to unlock and lock the central lock, for example, locking will occur when the tag disappears from the visibility zone, and unlocking will occur by touching the door handle sensor.

To enable the mode and configure it, contact the installer.

Disabling the “Hands Free” mode for 1 security cycle

 If at the time of parking, the tag is in the visibility zone (for example, you are in a cafe, and the car is parked nearby), then it is recommended to disable the disarming of the standard system in the “Hands Free” mode for 1 security cycle.

 You can disable the disarming of the standard system in the "Hands Free" mode for 1 security cycle in one of the following ways:

  • arming by pressing the button on the tag;

  • arming with a standard key fob.

To return to the "Hands Free" mode, press the button of the tag or the standard key fob again.

Keyless entry system lock function

Label authorization must be enabled to use this feature.

The "Keyless entry system lock" function creates an additional level of protection against theft, in case of theft of a regular car key. In the "Protection" mode, the immobilizer blocks the operation of the keyless entry system when the tag disappears from the visibility zone.

By default, the "Keyless Entry System Lock" feature is disabled. Contact an installer to activate it.

OBD-II diagnostic connector protection

The immobilizer protects against unauthorized access to the vehicle's diagnostic bus. This makes it possible to exclude the possibility of bypassing the car's protection against theft by intruders (for example, registering a regular key, disabling the lock).

Activation of the protection of the diagnostic connector, depending on the settings, occurs in one of two modes:

  • in "Protection" mode

  • in all modes except service

By default, the option to protect the diagnostic connector in the "Protection" mode is selected. Contact your installer to change the setting.

Engine lock

Engine blocking is carried out using iCAN technology in the "Protection" mode. Thanks to iCAN technology, the immobilizer independently selects an event to safely block the engine and support the operation of remote engine start systems (depending on the supported functions in the car's CAN bus).

The engine lock will be active until the ignition is turned off. The next time you try to start the movement, the lock will turn on again. If the blocking is repeated 3 times, then the engine will be blocked until the label appears or the immobilizer is switched to the  "Emergency disarm" mode .

If the CAN bus is damaged by an intruder, the immobilizer will determine the engine start event by changing the on-board voltage and block the engine via an analog connection.

Hood lock control

To control the hood lock, the StarLine R6 underhood unit or the StarLine R4 relay must be connected .

Depending on the authorization method, the car hood lock will be controlled according to one of three algorithms.

Authorization using a label and entering a code

  • the immobilizer will open the hood lock after successful authorization

  • immobilizer prohibits hood lock when ignition is off  after 10 seconds

Authorization using a label and entering a code

  • the immobilizer will open the hood lock after successful authorization

  • immobilizer prohibits the hood lock when the ignition is off and the label disappears from the visibility zone

Each time the standard system is armed, the immobilizer locks the hood lock 10 seconds after the tag disappears, regardless of the state of the standard security system.

Service mode

The service mode is designed to temporarily disable security functions for the period of service maintenance.

Switching on the service mode is only possible near the vehicle.

Service mode control with label

Entry and exit from the mode is carried out by holding the label button for 5 seconds. The transition to the service mode will be indicated by the yellow color of the LED on the label.

When transferring the car for service or washing,  ALWAYS  put the immobilizer in service mode.

Do not transfer tags to third parties to prevent unauthorized access to security functions.

Turning on the service mode using the service button

This method is convenient to use when there is no tag or smartphone.

To switch to service mode, do the following:

  1. Make sure the authorization is successful.

  2. Turn on the ignition.

  3. Press the service button 11 times.

  4. Switch the ignition off and on again.

  5. Switching to the service mode will be confirmed by 2 short beeps.

The service mode will be exited automatically after successful authorization. Authorization must be completed within 30 seconds after the ignition is switched on.

Exiting the service mode using the emergency disarm code

To disable the service mode, do the following:

  1. Turn on the ignition.
    Press the service button a number of times corresponding to the first digit of the emergency disarm code .

  2. Switch off the ignition.

  3. Repeat steps 1 ... 3 for the remaining numbers.

  4. Turn on the ignition.

  5. Press the service button a number of times corresponding to the first digit of the emergency disarm code .

  6. Switch off the ignition.

  7. Repeat steps 1 ... 3 for the remaining numbers.

When entering the emergency removal code in the service mode, there are no sound notifications about the button being entered or about an incorrectly entered code. If the emergency disarm code is entered incorrectly 5 times, the ability to re-enter the code will be blocked for 15 minutes.

Automatic exit from the service mode

Automatic exit from the service mode can be carried out by speed or distance traveled.

If the owner forgets to turn off the service mode after the completion of the car maintenance, the immobilizer will do it automatically according to the event set in the settings. When exiting the service mode, the immobilizer switches to the previous operating mode.

By default, automatic exit from the service mode is disabled. To enable automatic exit from service mode, contact your installer.
